Chimpanzees can now be tracked in Bugoma forest.

Good news for Uganda, Bugoma Forest is now another exciting Chimpanzee destination. With two sessions, the morning one which starts in at 8am and the after-noon session which starts at 2pm.

The Bugoma forest is a protected tropical forest that is situated southwest of Hoima and northeast of Kyenjojo towns. The forest has abundance of attractions and some of them are here below. 23 species of mammal, 225 species of birds like Nahan’s partridge, grey parrot and African crowned eagle, butterfly species like Anthene ituria and 260 plant species including Afrothismia winkleri, Brazzia and longipedicellata.

The forest is home to a considerable number of chimpanzees and now they are ready for tracking. Bugoma can now be included on Uganda’s Primate safari itineraries. The activity is carried out by National Forestry Authority at Mwera Eco-Tourism site and that’s where briefing is done.

 

Chimpanzee

From Kampala or Entebbe visitors can arrive around midday and do Chimpanzee tracking in the afternoon. It can also be done in the morning, when the visitor spend the night nearby like at Bugoma Jungle lodge.

It can also be done in from Murchison falls National Park. Generally, it depends on the flow of the package or Itinerary.

Bugoma Jungle Lodge.

This is the first tourism lodge to be built in Bugoma, it’s the nearest to the forest and offers great services to visitors. Bugoma is one of the fantastic lodges between Murchison falls National Park and Kibale National Park.

When at Bugoma jungle Lodge, you will be welcomed by the sound’s birds, monkeys, Chimpanzees, mangabeys and many others.

The lodge has tented cottages, some of the material used to build using local materials like woods, grass, and local red bricks. It’s an eco-lodge. Other services include, Restaurant, Camp fire, the lodge uses solar, it has the bar, WIFI and many others.

Kikonko Lodge

Kikonko lodge offer beautiful views of Lake Albert, It’s a place of night with a million lights. At night, fisher men light on the lake when they are going for fishing. The lodge is located between Murchison falls and Queen Elizabeth National Park.

The lodges offer good cottages built using African materials by local labor around the place. The cottage has a large window, which can allow you have good views of the lakes and sights and sounds of nature.

The lodge is also a perfect place for visitors wanting to do Chimpanzee Tracking in Bugoma, its just 40 minutes drive from Kikonko lodge to Bugoma Forest.
