A 5-day Gorilla and chimpanzee safari allows you to encounter the two top primate species in Uganda. The trip highlights the trek for chimpanzees in Kibale National Park and Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Day 1: Transfer to Kibale Forest

We start the trip from Entebbe International Airport and transfer to Kibale National Park -the home of 13 primate species including chimpanzees, Vervet monkeys, Red-tailed Monkey, Olive Baboon, Blue monkeys, Grey checked Mangabeys, and so on.

Dinner and overnight at Primate Lodge Kibale, Chimpundu Lodge, Turaco Treetops Lodge, or Mountains of the Moon Hotel.

Day 2 Chimpanzee tracking in Kibale Forest

We shall start the day with a briefing at 7:30 by ranger guides. Thereafter, walk into the jungle to encounter one of the habituated chimpanzee troops. Chimpanzee trekking is less strenuous compared to Gorilla trekking so, elders worry not.

When you meet chimpanzees, open your eyes wide to see, open your mind to study and set your cameras to take snaps. Return to your safari lodge with great memories, relax and wait for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

It’s the major home for Uganda’s Mountain Gorillas with 19 habituated gorilla families scattered in the Buhoma sector, Rushaga Sector, Ruhija sector, and Nkuringo sectors – sub-divided in Bwindi Forest. The journey will take you via the Mountains of the Moon “Mt. Rwenzori” with clear views of the slopes and Mt. peaks. Drive via Queen Elizabeth National Park (the second largest park in Uganda) to see some animals on the way – proceed to Ishasha sector to encounter the tree climbing lions.

Reach Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for Lunch, relax and wait for dinner and overnight at Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp Uganda, Nkuringo Bwindi Gorilla Lodge, Chameleon Hill Lodge, Lake Mutanda Resort or Rushaga Gorilla Camp.

Day 4: Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi Forest

Lifetime even is none other than Gorilla trekking in Uganda. Believe me, it’s an adventure to search for the mountain Gorillas in their natural habitat. When you meet Gorillas, take photos, observe them while doing their daily activities, and so on. Return to your accommodation for relaxation and wait for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Drive at leisure back to Entebbe International Airport

You will leave Bwindi Impenetrable National Park with great memories and photos as evidence of Gorilla trekking. Lunch en route and proceed to the Airport for departure.
